Gearbox problems with 2nd gear are all too common with this gearbox, you can see the gear that is affected in the image ( marked 2nd ) and the 1-2 hub, you will will notice crunching into gear or simply a difficult engagement , doubling the clutch may offer a temporary reprieve but it won’t cure the problem. To remedy depending on wear replacement of 2nd gear , 2nd gear syncro and 1-2 hub if required , its also a good chance to replace the bearings.
