The Peugeot Bipper Van 5 speed gearbox is a “MA” Variant used across a huge range of vehicles. As with all MA Gearboxes they suffer with Bearing failure these are prone to terminal damage when the Pinion ( mainshaft) or front bearing ( lay gear / input shaft/ 1st Motion ) collapses. They can spin the diff resulting in loss of drive ( pressed on ) Other areas of concern are the top bearings, The sintered part of the gears can wear out causing syncro issues, and commonly if the front bearing goes its takes the reverse idler with it. Typical cost of a reconditioned gearbox is £450 + Vat & fitting a simple re-bearing From £ 240 + vat & fitting , Normally a stock item
